Benefits Of Fathers Of Confederation To The Canadians

By Jason Burns

All nations have those founding people whom they can give credit for the peace and freedom they are enjoying today. There were people who worked so hard to make sure their nations reminded independent and was able to make its decisions. Fathers of confederation were the initial beginners of bringing together all the British American colonies into an agreement.

If it were not for these brave men Canada would have probably been a state in America. However these people left their jobs to fight for that. Leonard Tilley was a pharmacist with his own drug store who later sold it to be a politician. These men gave up their normal lives all for a good course and make sure Canada remained independent and still maintain ties with British American colonies.

America has been able to fight Britain and gain independence but most of the states in the north that later came to form Canada were still under their rule. When American war broke British supported the south instead of the north which angered many people. The north lacked military power and that is when America came in trying to be their rescuer.

In that moment while America was still trying to take over the northern part and Britain did not want to pay money to defend these countries they argued them to be independent. The British government still wanted to feel superior and not be defeated by the United States once more. Due to that fear these founding people settled for an alliance instead of war as America tried to take over.

Jean Charles Chapais was one of the members was a farmer and businessman who might have set his eyes on the economic benefits the country would get by being part of the alliance. Before the alliance trading was difficult and there were a lot of problems these countries were facing economically. With the alliance they realized they could trade comfortably.

Before the alliance were formed Canada was a big province made up of leaders speaking different languages. There were those that spoke in English and others in French. The founding men of the alliance realized that joining forces would help them solve the political issues. Once the alliances were formed the problem was solved and making decisions became easier.

If these people would still be alive today they would be so happy to see how amazing the country has become. They will forever be remembered for making the country great and independent. Some of them did not have their story end well. Darcy McGee who was a journalist before becoming a politician was shot and killed after being part of the revolution for about ten years.

They saw things differently and that is how they worked hard to seeing the project come to life. They sit ion for meetings looking forward to making a change. The first ever prime minister in Canada John Macdonald was part of the team that made the plan work. These conferences are still considered as historical events in Canada and the services of these men will never be forgotten.
