Crafters Need Retail Jewelry Displays And Packaging

By Brian Howard

Many love to wear accessories on any occasion, whether it be an antique necklace, bracelet, or heirloom ring. These days, on the market are so many styles of jewelry and other fashion accessories that complement almost any wardrobe for school or work. It is often hard to find someone who says that they do not care to wear accessories. Anyone looking to go into business making these for others should consider getting retail jewelry displays and packaging.

It is easier than ever to sell jewelry and other accessories to the public. There is the internet, along with an increase in temporary venues like pop up shops and outdoor events designed for the shopping crowd. For some, making jewelry and other accessories is easy and as a business, it has very low overhead.

Those who can come up with their own original designs may find success with a brick and mortar store or online. Besides the internet, items can be sold at open air markets, or on consignment at an independent store. There are sites that provide good e-commerce and live resources at no cost. It is also possible to find books and articles on how to make a living selling jewelry and other accessories.

When going into business, it is common to either cut corners or go overboard when it comes to purchases. Often this applies to marketing tools, placing media ads, or buying the right shipping. The good news is that there is a happy medium for those who want to watch their coins and get something of quality.

What some indie crafters do not realize is that they can buy quality supplies just like the larger retail chains. Not only is there a nice break in pricing compared to craft supply chains, but they can get a nice quantity without pressure to meet a minimum purchase. This is a lot better than cutting corners and has greater visual appeal.

When it comes to taking photos to be uploaded to a merchant site or for consideration in a craft show, sometimes using cloth or paper as a background can look amateurish. Especially if one has basic photography skills and knows little about displays. While some may hire a professional photographer, most anyone can save money by using the right tools that will present wares in the best light.

Shipping is often an area of concern, as people may have a time finding a way to send things securely without spending a lot. Jewelry bags and containers keep pieces safe and are much more reliable than grocery store bags. Sometimes packages may be subjected to varied temperatures while in transit, so it is best to ensure safety along the way.

There are also a number of colors and sizes from which to choose. Some retailers like the look of chrome but other may prefer a plastic display because it is easier to carry, as well as economical. The same applies to displays, which includes those with locking features.

When it comes to visuals, keeping wares in good condition is the key to attracting customers. Even if a person sells novelty pieces, they should still be kept in a secure manner. Using this type of storage can also help when it comes to organization.
