Fun DIY Party Craft Ideas For Something Different

By Phyllis Schroeder

Planning an event, from a birthday to something even more elaborate may require a little added treasures that will help it stand out from all the rest. In a world of mass-produced items, it seems as though every event is the same, so personalizing it may require some effort. Below, find some fun DIY party craft ideas that will turn an event into something much more special.

For starters, consider a child's birthday, with the mass-produced birthday hats. Instead of using these, people can create their own. What's more is that the guests themselves, the children, can make them themselves. It's inexpensive and fun, and will allow the child to personalize his or her own hat using a wide selection of store-bought supplies, or even recycled items from home.

When the children create these hats themselves, they allow their artistic sides to shine through. This way, they'll find it rewarding and appreciate their hats, while the hosts can take pleasure in the fact that the kids are being entertained and kept busy for some time. Before the party, the host may also make garlands, such as happy birthday garland. There are lots of materials that they can use to make these colorful or sparkly, and all they need is to staple them onto a string and hang them on the wall.

When hosting a Halloween event, consider holding onto soup cans and other tins and painting monster pictures on them. These could be rested on a table, or strung across a room. Pencils can be decorated with little plastic accessories like spiders and other such items, and placed in the monster painted soup can for a better effect.

All one needs is their imagination to create a more impressive event. Definitely, people will have to get their hands dirty, so to speak. It can be time-consuming depending on just how complicated the chosen projects may be. In the end, everyone will feel rewarded and have fun in the process.

Always invite the kids to help, as it will allow them to be proud of what they can do as well. This is especially true in the scenario of a birthday party for children. For more sophisticated event, like a baby shower or a bridal shower, get friends to help. Create a focal point for the dessert table by hanging baby clothes on a clothesline, using clothes pegs for all to see.

Tissue paper pom-poms can also be made in any color, for any event, even a bridal shower or a wedding. These pom-poms can also be glued onto a cut out, such as the number being celebrated for a birthday or anniversary. For wintry theme, consider cotton balls or different sized Styrofoam balls strung with a fishing line, that would create the appearance of a snowfall.

While there are millions of ideas available to personalize an event, it all depends on the creativity of the individual. From there, it has to do with their skill level, and the amount of time one wants to invest. One word of advice is to simply give enough time so that there isn't any stressing or frustration when working on these projects.
