Some Virginia Festivals You Should Consider

Right now you are reading this article because you are thinking of taking a vacation down south to Virginia later on. There are quite a few noteworthy festivals in Virginia that can last anywhere from just one day to several days. Many basic categories exist from ones that are designed for food lovers or families, or even just shoppers and general interest. A notable first festival to consider on your Virginia visit is the spring celebration called the Daffodil Festival. The county of Gloucester celebrates this every springtime, usually towards the ending days of May. Activities are varied with parades, a 5k run, dog shows and friendly competitions. Do expect sales of flowers and bulbs also. An open food court with live music is available alongside good barbecue and seafood.

Shoppers on the other hand may want to partake in the Frostfest. This is celebrated in the city of Richmond and is touted as the indoor flea market around. Many go to this event and avail of really deep discounts on anything from electronic items down to household and personal items.

Lovers of chocolate will definitely be interested in the Chocolate Lovers Festival held in Fairfax scheduled in months of the first half of the year. The festival celebrates everything chocolate, from taste tests, cooking competitions, and much more. It may be a good time to indulge your sweet tooth by attending.

Should seafood ad oysters be your thing then you can head on down to Chincoteague. In one of the first weeks of October they celebrate the Chincoteague Oyster for just one day. This festival has all you can eat buffet of steamed and fried oysters, steamed crabs, hotdogs and many others. This is a family friendly event that has vendor booth contests, live band music and a fair for everything locally made.

Late Christmas shoppers or confused gift shoppers will be thankful for the Bizarre Bazaar Christmas Show. This is held in Richmond every month of December and showcases over 500 arts and crafts booths vendors as well as food booths, all with a Christmas theme. They do have special events also but you may need to buy advanced tickets for these special activities, so you should inquire ahead.

The festivals and events discussed in this article are by no means the only ones available. Plenty others may exist out there that should be of more interest to you.
