How To Take Great Photos Of Discount Fireworks

By Nancy Gardner

Celebrations such as festivals are very entertaining. These are even more entertaining at night, especially when there are discount fireworks SC being displayed in the night sky. As a photographer, you will definitely want to capture that amazing moment in pictures. To push through with firework photography, here are tips that a person should remember.

First, you better make sure that you are using the right equipment. There needs to be a sturdy tripod to focus steadily on the night sky. The tripod is necessary to avoid sinking, wobbling, or tipping. Extra batteries should be brought along as well since the event will mostly require long exposures. The battery will dry up easily with that.

The ISO is another setting necessary for this type of photography. In the ISO, make sure that it has already been set to low, maybe at 200 or 100. With the low ISO, one can avoid introducing more noise to your pics. The noise will be common if the photos have lots of blue areas. Nighttime pictures have many blue areas so using low ISO can eliminate those noise.

The camera might have a long exposure noise reduction. If this is the case, then you better turn it off. During normal photography, this setting can really do a good job with noise reduction. However, it will add extra complication that is unnecessary in firework photography. You will certainly miss the display if you do not turn this setting off.

Live view should also be changed. Better pick an eyecup viewfinder when taking your shots. The live view setting is only recommended when a person is shooting a video, after all. It takes up too much of your battery life so live view is not a recommended setting when taking pyrotechnic shots.

Manual mode is better when it comes to the exposure for this type of photography. For the aperture, it should already be set to f8 or f5.6. These are the ideal apertures for the pyrotechnic show. If you close more, the light trails will just become thinner. If you open more, the photos you have taken will become overexposed.

The shutter speed is another setting that one should pay attention to. It is highly recommended to set the shutter speed to a range between two to ten seconds. You might want to consider doing a test shot right before a pyrotechnic show starts. This way, you can adjust the exposure according to how dark or bright it is.

Focus the lens ahead of time. After you have focused at one point with your camera, you should turn off the AutoFocus function of your camera. Otherwise, it will just keep trying to refocus every shot. If that happens, then you will definitely end up with blurry shots or missed images. Your efforts will just be wasted with this.

Make sure you take lots of shots at the start of the pyrotechnic show. By taking shots at the beginning, you can avoid the problems of smoke and haze appearing in your shots. These smoke and haze eventually becomes visible as more and more fireworks get displayed. These are just hindrances that makes the photos look ugly.
