Styles For Black And Short Natural Hair

By Darren Hartley

Black natural hair styles can look either rosy or nerve-wracking from the other side. Low maintenance hairdos are a dream when it comes to shaving time off the morning grooming sessions. Once some inches are gained, cleansing, detangling and styling, more often than not, take at least as long as it did when the hair is relaxed.

Maintaining relaxed black natural hair styles does not necessarily equate to hair maintenance savings. Whatever is saved from not having to go to a salon on a regular salon might be eaten up by hair product expenses. And since different products offer different results on different hair textures, a woman will have to go through a lot of trial and error before she finds the products and routines that are perfect for her specific hair texture.

Some black natural hair styles may not be welcomed with open arms in work environments that gear toward conservative policies. Hair grown from the head as-is may face discrimination in some workplaces. Jobs that have dress codes might frown on natural hair styles like braids and locks, considering them as extreme hairdos.

Short natural hair styles that can work for super short tresses include comb coils or comb twists. Your hair need only to be an inch long for this hair style. A woman has the option of using her fingers or a rat tail comb to create this hair style. An additional product requirement would be pomade or gel.

Included among short natural hair styles are bantu knots. They can either be created with simple, basic parts travelling from the front to the back of the hair or done with a bit of fancy by designing diamond-shaped hair patterns. Gel or pomade can be used to gently twist small sections of the hair into knots.

For hair that is not very long, twists are other short natural hair styles that can be tried on. As a matter of fact, this style works on hair as short as two inches long. By directing the twists to where they are wanted to fall, a more controlled look to the twists are gained.
